The Grinch and Cindy-Lou interrupted the Assembly this morning and had the children and staff dancing, laughing and singing. The Grinch even stole our Christmas tree. I think Mrs Gore has managed to get it back for the Forest School.

The course was delivered by Charlotte Hartley, a former International hockey player, who represented England in the 2006 Commonwealths. The girls took part in team games, self-esteem bosting activities and learnt about ways to support and improve mental health. The girls had a fabulous time and even confidently did a presentation of what they had learnt from the day in front of all of the other attendees! Amelia and Charney look forward to spreading their knowledge and helping others as the "positive peers" around our school.

Mrs Duffy escorted them to St John Southworth where they met other children and staff from the family of schools in the Romero Trust.

The children and staff have come back buzzing with some ideas about how we can link what they have seen and heard with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si message about Caring for our Common home.

They had to complete an opera called 'Blue, Red, Yellow...' They chose green as their colour to inspire them, and using their own musical ideas, voices and classroom instruments, they came up with a brilliant piece of music.

English National Opera recently gave them this feedback:

What great singing and lyrics! Great job in matching with the title and you made a great salad of instruments that worked so well to create a brilliant tune.

(Thursday 25th April.)They absolutely loved all the challenges that were set and couldn't believe that skateboarding could be part of the school curriculum! Our very experienced coach was able to teach the children new skills, as well as promoting confidence and resilience. All classes were able to spend time helping each other out with cool tricks and encouraging each other to take part. The coach was very impressed with everyone's behaviour (2 weeks running external coaches/companies have made a point of this - well done everyone!) and in particular, some of our Year 6 children were mastering skills that they teach to Year 10 pupils.
